The purpose of this qualification is to equip students with the necessary knowledge and skills related to the business environment to make them more employable and to also widen access to selected diploma qualification(s). Please note: Students who successfully complete this Higher Certificate qualification and comply with the set admission requirements may proceed to one of the following diplomas in the field of: Economics, Marketing, Logistics, Management or Tourism management.

BSc (Physical Science & Mathematics)

This BSc degree is based on the three cornerstone subjects in Science (Mathematics, Physics and Chemistry) and provides an excellent basis for postgraduate studies in these fields. Furthermore, it offers a sensible subject combination for persons wishing to teach physical science and/or mathematics up to senior secondary level This programme will also launch you into a postgraduate programme at Nelson Mandela University in solid state physics, electron microscopy, crystal growth, optical fibre studies and renewable energy; all with an emphasis on materials development. In addition, the programme provides a platform from which students can enter the field of materials science and engineering. Materials scientists develop and analyze various alloys, ceramics and other novel materials. As such they play an increasingly important role in adding value to the range of minerals mined in South Africa.

This programme equips diplomates with skills and knowledge in the fields of timber processing, seasoning and structures, panel board production, human resource management and environmental management, applied biometry and production engineering (industrial).

BAPsych (Psychology)

This programme provides training for students who want to develop psychological knowledge and skills for use in people-oriented careers in helping settings as well as in business settings. It also provides the foundation from which a professional qualification in either clinical/counselling psychology or industrial & organisational psychology can be built. The core modules cover the following broad areas: health psychology, gender and social psychology, traumatology, crosscultural psychology, neuropsychology, research methodology, relationship psychology, psychopathology, psychological assessment and intervention, career psychology, human resource management, organisational behaviour and consumer behaviour.
