Programme Overview:

This programme provides training for students who want to develop psychological knowledge and skills for use in people-oriented careers in helping settings as well as in business settings. It also provides the foundation from which a professional qualification in either clinical/counselling psychology or industrial & organisational psychology can be built. The core modules cover the following broad areas: health psychology, gender and social psychology, traumatology, crosscultural psychology, neuropsychology, research methodology, relationship psychology, psychopathology, psychological assessment and intervention, career psychology, human resource management, organisational behaviour and consumer behaviour.

• Minimum NSC statutory requirements for degree entry must be met. • Mathematics – 45%, or Technical Mathematics, or Mathematical Literacy – 65%.

AdvDip (Operations Management)

The study of Operations Management fills a strategic role in the operational efficiency of manufacturing, as well as the service industry. Included in the tasks of operations managers are the essential components of quality enhancement and assurance, supply chain management, increased productivity, cost reduction, and flexibility improvements. Operations managers could be required to solve broadly defined operations related problems, apply analytical techniques to operations related procedures, processes, systems and methodologies, design and apply operations related control systems, understand the impact of operations management, use appropriate techniques, resources, and modern operations tools, including IT, for the solution of broadly defined operations. Operations Managers must also be able to communicate effectively and demonstrate the ability to work in a team. The Advanced Diploma in Operations Management is designed to build on the knowledge and skills obtained in the Diploma (Operations Management). This course will provide a deeper level of knowledge, understanding, and skills required towards becoming primarily a competent, and efficient operations manager and employee. Applicants with relevant qualifications and experience from other engineering and science disciplines may also apply.

This programme is aimed at students who wish to specialise in the field of Tourism. During the first year of study, students are able to obtain a solid foundation in key modules in the field of commerce, such as Business Management, Economics and Tourism. The module, Tourism Work Experience, enables students to gain practical work experience within the Tourism Industry.
