BEngTech (Electrical Engineering)

Electrical Engineering is the study of the behaviour of electrical, electronic, digital, and electromechanical systems. Electrical Engineering Technologists are responsible for the design, development, manufacturing, testing and maintenance of electrical, electronic, and digital infrastructure. This includes, but is not limited to, the various forms of power generation, transmission, and distribution systems, control systems, computer systems, data and voice communication systems, automated robotic systems, and medical technologies. The Electrical Engineering technologist assists in creating wealth and improving people’s quality of life.

HCert (Renewable Energy Engineering)

This programme provides an introduction to Sustainable Energy and Renewable Energy Technologies. The course includes carefully selected applied Mathematics, Science and Engineering content to fast-track learning to the required level. The purpose of this programme is to equip students with the necessary skills to function in a supporting role to an engineering team in the renewable energy sector comprising artisans, technicians, technologists, and engineers. Successful candidates meeting prescribed criteria, may apply for admission to BEngTech, BEng and other degrees offered at the university.
