Programme Overview:

This programme provides prospective teachers with the required knowledge, understanding and skills to enhance teaching and learning in all the Intermediate Phase subjects (Languages, Mathematics, Natural Science & Technology, Social Sciences, Life Skills, Arts & Culture, Economics and Management Sciences), as well as practical and professional preparation in the relevant methodologies. Students will be exposed to various modules that will provide the knowledge to support hands-on classroom competencies from the first to the fourth year.

• Minimum NSC requirements for degree entry must be met. • English (Home Language or First Additional Language) AND Afrikaans or isiXhosa (Home Language or First Additional Language) • Mathematics – 45%, or Technical Mathematics or Mathematical Literacy - 60%.

BA (Human Resource Management)

This programme provides sound theoretical knowledge of human resources practice, labour relations, labour law, business and management, combined with hands-on practical skills in conflict management, research, stress management, organisational behaviour, consumer behaviour, rewards management and staffing. Industrial Psychology forms the core of the programme. The Department of Industrial and Organisational Psychology is registered with the Health Professions Council as a training facility for industrial psychologists.

The extended curriculum programme for Dip (Marketing) studies provides alternative university access to students who have the potential to succeed, but do not meet the minimum admission requirements for the mainstream programme. The purpose of the programme is to integrate additional academic support and skills development with mainstream courses in order to prepare the student for successful completion of the relevant Diploma.

BCom: Accounting Science (Economics/ Business Management)

This programme provides candidates who wish to qualify as Chartered Accountants (SA) with the opportunity of an additional major in Economics or Business Management. After completing this degree, students may proceed to the Postgraduate Diploma in Accountancy, and then to the professional examinations administered by the South African Institute of Chartered Accountants (SAICA) and complete a three-year training contract, in order to qualify as a chartered accountant.
